New Band Student Information

Incoming marching band, jazz band and symphonic band students will find information and student/alumni testimonials here that will help introduce you to what the NHS Bands have to offer you as a new student at Niwot High School.

Welcome New Band Students!

Being a part of high school band is equal parts challenging and fun. I recognize that you might be super-excited and a bit nervous. The leaders of our bands will tell you that they, too, were nervous as new members. Even I was nervous for the first day of my band camp so many years ago!

But those nerves will fall away as you meet people in your section, learn our music, and get comfortable with our routines and traditions. You will grow in confidence as your skills and knowledge improve. Stick with it and you will become a leader to whom other new students look up to. It's the circle of life and it's how we continue to have fine bands and make awesome music.

You are the future of the Niwot Bands;
we look forward to having you join us!

What is Band Camp?

Incoming freshman Marching Band students have a lot of questions about what to expect from the Band Camp experience.

Join us for 5 days of hard work and FUN!

Band camp for the Niwot High School Cougar Marching Band is a 5-day summer camp that typically occurs the first week of August. Attending band camp is required for members and constitutes the main preparation the marching band makes prior to marching season. During band camp members will learn how to march, learn drill, and rehearse/memorize show songs. It is also a time to get to know your fellow bandmates and make new friends. And….there’s a really fun post-band camp BBQ party/celebration!

At first they were a little intimidated, but freshman soon realize that Marching Band students quickly become ONE BIG FAMILY!
